Christine's Bake Shop is a family run bakery that has been in business since 2013. Christine started as most do, baking out of her home for family and friends. Her dream for many years was to have her own bakery. In 2013 she decided to start a booth at a small local farmers market. Over time, she added more farmers markets, craft shows, festivals, etc.
Christine was getting so busy baking, that in 2018 she made the decision to 'retire' from her 20 year career in the insurance industry and bake full time. At this time she also moved into a commercial kitchen where she was able to expand her business to include some wholesale customers as well. Around this time, her son Connor started to bake with her. Connor eventually took over making the cookies and butter tarts.
In the summer of 2019 Christine applied for and later won Leamington's ReInvent This Space Contest. This contest gave Christine a grant to be used towards rent for the first year of a retail location in Uptown Leamington. Just as Christine started to look for a location, COVID happened, and everything went on hold. 2020 saw a shift in business for Christine's Bake Shop. They developed their first website and started a weekly home delivery service (something that she thought she might do in the future, but not this soon). Instead of 4 farmers markets and multiple other events over the year, they only participated in 1 farmers market for the season. Their wholesale clients also changed, and instead of 4 they only had 2. Despite all of these changes, the bakery kept going.
Now, in 2021, Christine's Bake Shop is finally going to have a retail location in Uptown Leamington. Christine, Connor and their staff can't wait to serve everyone in Leamington and the surrounding areas!
